Meet Our Parish and Finance Councils

Parish Council

The Pastoral Council serves as a consultative body, with its policies and decisions requiring the Pastor's authority to take effect. Its role is defined by the guidelines of the Pastoral Council established by the Diocese of Raleigh.

In response to God's call for the parish to be a community of faithful disciples, council members are encouraged to pursue ongoing renewal through prayer, study, listening, and dialogue. By collaborating with the pastor, the council aims to establish priorities and directions for the parish, ensuring that the entire community has a voice in supporting the pastor’s guidance and direction for parish life.

The goal of the Parish Pastoral Council is to work alongside the Pastor to create a common vision and purpose. The council actively advocates for the poor and marginalized, extending the church's Christian commitment to neighboring communities. To achieve this, the council develops a mission statement for the parish community, which serves as a reference point for all parish activities

The Pastoral Council is composed of five members and the Pastor may appoint two additional members at his discretion. At least one member of the Pastoral Council must be a parishioner who regularly attends Mass at Holy Trinity by the Sea Chapel.

The parish council members for 2025/2026 are: Linda Duffy Palombo, Leo Holland, Nicholas Facci, Joseph V. Albanese, Lorna (Lori) Ann Watkins, Paul Bredell, Clark Olson, Wendy Flores, and Zachary Wilkolaski.

Finance Council

This Council is composed of Christian faithful, selected according to diocesan norms, who assist the Pastor in managing the parish's financial resources.

The Finance Council serves as an advisory and decision-making body to the Pastor, addressing both ordinary and extraordinary aspects of financial administration. Members of the Finance Council dedicate their time and skills as a Christian steward to assist the Pastor in developing and managing the parish's financial resources.

The relationship between the Council and the Pastor should be supportive and collaborative. The Council's primary responsibility is to ensure that the parish operates with financial integrity and remains within its financial means.

Every member of the Parish Finance Council is appointed by the Pastor, who considers the talents and skills of individuals within the parish. Members of the Finance Council should be motivated by a Christian spirit and deeply aware of the parish's mission to promote acts of apostolate and charity, thereby enabling the parish to effectively spread the message of Christ and demonstrate His love.
