Sacraments

The Sacrament of Baptism

In Baptism, the Holy Spirit moves us to answer Christ's call to holiness. In Baptism, we are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. We are invited to submit our hearts to Christ with ever-deeper love.

We delight in sharing this significant moment in your family's ongoing faith development and pray that you will be enriched by your experience. Holy Redeemer by the Sea welcomes your child with great joy and looks forward to growing in faith and love with your family. We welcome you to our baptismal preparation process.

Please contact the parish office at hrbtskittyhawk@gmail.com to schedule a baptism.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion

As parents and guardians, you have been nurturing your child's faith since baptism through prayer, worship, service, and community involvement. While this journey officially begins with a two-year preparation program, we understand that our parish's role is just one part of your child's lifelong faith journey. You, as parents and guardians, are the primary and most important educators of your child's faith.

Our Faith Formation programs and additional events are designed to support the wonderful and sacred work you are already doing at home. The First Holy Communion program is a two-year process, culminating in the reception of the First Eucharist toward the end of Second Grade. For more information, please contact Kerri Engley, Director of Faith Formation, at hrbtsfaithformation@gmail.com.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation is much more than just a rite of passage; it is your opportunity to embrace your faith as your own. The gifts of the Holy Spirit that you receive through this sacrament are not merely a one-time occurrence. Instead, it marks the beginning of your journey as an adult disciple of Christ, equipping you with the tools necessary to live as a Christian adult. This includes loving others, serving your community, and sharing the Gospel through both your words and actions.

The Diocese of Raleigh has established requirements that mandate a two-year program for this sacrament. For more information, please contact Kerri Engley, Director of Faith Formation, at hrbtsfaithformation@gmail.com.

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate (bishop), presbyterate (priest), and diaconate (deacon).

To discern a vocation of commitment to the priesthood or religious life, please speak to the pastor or visit ncpriest.org or oblates.org.

To discern a vocation to the diaconate, please speak to one of our deacons.
