Sacraments & Liturgy
Sacraments
The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments as sacred moments of grace, including Baptism for spiritual rebirth, First Communion and Confirmation for faith development, Reconciliation for spiritual healing, Anointing of the Sick for physical and spiritual wellness, Marriage for holy unions, and Holy Orders for religious vocations. At Holy Redeemer by the Sea, each sacrament follows specific preparation requirements and schedules, with support available through the parish office for those seeking to receive these sacred rites.

O.C.I.A.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a no-obligation journey for those interested in exploring the Catholic faith and potentially becoming members of the Catholic Church. Through this process, seekers learn about Catholic teachings while preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation, joining others on a path toward deeper spiritual understanding and relationship with Jesus.

Liturgy
The liturgy, especially through the Mass and Eucharist, represents both the pinnacle of the Church's work and the source of its spiritual power, serving as the primary means through which God is glorified and believers are sanctified. Various liturgical ministries, including musicians, lectors, extraordinary ministers, altar servers, ushers, and others, work together to support these sacred celebrations that form the center of parish life.

Marriage Preparation
The Catholic Church celebrates marriage as a sacred sacrament symbolizing the union between Christ and His Church, making it both a joyful promise and solemn commitment. Couples planning to marry at Holy Redeemer by the Sea should contact the parish office at least nine months in advance to begin the preparation process, with special requirements in place for ceremonies officiated by visiting priests.

Music Ministry
At Holy Redeemer by the Sea, the Music Ministry enriches worship through song, inviting all parishioners to share their musical gifts in service of the Lord. Under the direction of David Portman, this ministry welcomes those interested in spreading the Gospel through musical worship.

Eucharistic Adoration
Eucharistic Adoration at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Church occurs on the First Friday of each month following 9:00 am Mass, offering time for private prayer before the exposed Blessed Sacrament. This devotional practice welcomes both experienced adorers and newcomers to spend quiet moments in the Lord's presence, with no formal prayer structure required.
