Faith Formation Programs

Faith formation helps children, teens, and adults grow in faith. It helps people learn about God, love God, and serve others. Faith formation helps us grow closer to God for our whole lives. — Adapted from Vibrant Faith.

At Holy Redeemer by the Sea, we help students know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We help them learn Catholic teachings and practices. We also help them follow Jesus in daily life. Faith Formation is a life-long journey, and we are happy to walk with you.

Faith Formation helps children learn about Jesus. It helps them know Him, love Him, and follow Him. The lessons used in our classes follow the Diocese of Raleigh religion plan. Our goal is to help each child learn more about the Catholic faith and grow closer to Jesus. Faith is something we learn, celebrate, live, and pray.

The Diocesan lessons are built on six important parts of our faith:

  • Knowing our faith
  • Learning about Mass and prayer
  • Making good choices
  • Learning to pray
  • Being part of the Church family
  • Sharing God’s love with others

Each grade learns these ideas in a way that fits their age. Students learn some ideas again each year, but in a deeper way. This is why coming to class each year is very important. It helps children get ready for the Sacraments.

Holy Redeemer by the Sea follows the Diocese of Raleigh for Sacramental preparation. Students must take part in the required Sacramental classes. They must also show they have learned the basic faith lessons. Classes are on Sunday mornings after the 9:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church.

Note: If your family is moving from another parish, we need documentation that your child attended classes there. The documentation must include the seal from your previous parish. Please have them send it to Holy Redeemer by the Sea Parish Faith Formation at hrbtsfaithformation@gmail.com. The seal must be visible.

NEW Student Information - Please have this information ready when you register:

  • Make sure your family is registered at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Parish.
  • Provide a copy of the Baptismal Certificate if your child was not baptized at Holy Redeemer by the Sea or Holy Trinity by the Sea.

Quinceañera Preparation Program

We are excited to offer a Quinceañera Preparation Program. All young ladies must complete this program to celebrate a Quinceañera in our parish. We recommend starting the program when you turn 14 to ensure you are fully prepared for this wonderful ceremony.

Please note, active participation in our Faith Formation program is required to receive a Quinceanera Mass.

Adult Faith Formation

Little Rock Scripture Group

Join us for fellowship as we explore God’s Word and learn how to apply it to our daily lives. Together, we will encourage and support each other while reflecting on the Scriptures. The group meets on Wednesdays from 9:45 AM to 11:30 AM at Holy Redeemer in the Parish Hall. If you are interested in joining, please contact Nancy Barlow at nancybarlow3@gmail.com.

Our current Scripture Study, the Book of Hebrews, begins on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 and ends on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Hebrews is "the greatest Christian sermon ever preached or written," according to New Testament scholar Daniel Harrington, SJ. This unique New Testament text presents Jesus as the great High Priest who simultaneously offers sacrifice to God and is himself the sacrifice. His compassion is rooted in his humanity, for he is like us in all things but sin. Harrington’s accessible commentary helps us read and reflect on this beautiful Scripture text, giving us a renewed appreciation for the saving work of Jesus. Commentary, study, and reflection questions, prayers, and access to online lectures are included in the six-week course. The cost for the book is $13.00. Adult Faith Formation Book Study - “Forming Intentional Disciples”

We invite you to join our book study "Forming Intentional Disciples" at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Our book study begins on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 and ends on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

This powerful book, "Forming Intentional Disciples" by Sherry Weddell, helps Catholics deepen their relationship with God and take an active role in the Church. Its ideas and advice support Pope Francis' call for evangelization as we open the doors of faith.

Get ready for change. When parish life is renewed, the whole Church is renewed.

If you cannot attend on Wednesday nights, there are alternate sessions Sunday, February 22, 2026 through Sunday, May 24, 2026 after the 9:00 Mass at Holy Redeemer by the Sea parish.

"Walking with Purpose" Bible Studies

"Walking with Purpose" Bible studies are a women-only group that combines personal study with small group discussion, linking our everyday challenges to solutions given through Scripture.  If you desire to grow in your faith in a supportive community of Catholic women - please join us!

Our weekly Bible Study begins on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 and ends on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Classes are held in the Education wing at Holy Redeemer by the Sea and begin at 6:00pm.
