Forming Your Faith
Faith formation is a life-long process in the Catholic Church that helps individuals grow in their relationship with God. It involves teaching the core beliefs, practices, and moral teachings of Catholicism to people of all ages.
This process is essential for fostering a strong spiritual life and preparing individuals to live out their faith in the world. Please review the ministries below and let us know if there are any in which you would like to participate.
Adult Faith Formation

Youth Faith Formation

Little Rock Scripture Study

This study group gathers weekly on Wednesday mornings after daily Mass to read, study, pray and live the Word of God. They encourage people to grow in personal relationship with Jesus Christ and facilitate a rich experience of our Christian community.
Walking with Purpose
Judy Elswick
Just for women, this new Bible study enables women to know Christ personally through Scripture. The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings.
Vacation Bible School

Our annual week-long summer faith formation program for children age 4 to 5th grade delivers an interactive camp blending games, crafts, music and snacks to evangelize children and foster community.
Liturgical Ministries
There are many ways to participate in the liturgy at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Church and Holy Trinity by the Sea Mission. Each ministry is vital to providing a sacred and reverent Mass for those attending. These ministries support our parish clergy as they celebrate Mass for the faithful. Please look over the various ways that you can become part of our liturgical celebrations.
Altar Servers
Joe Cross
This vital liturgical role is usually for children or youth parishioners who have celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist, and they assist the priests and deacons during Mass. They enhance the reverence, flow, and beauty of the celebration through specific actions like carrying the cross, holding liturgical books, preparing the altar, and managing the thurible during services requiring it. This is our youth’s first role of participation outside their normal attendance at Mass.
Choir
David Portman
This ministry is a liturgical service dedicated to leading our parishioners in prayerful song, enhancing sacred celebrations, and glorifying God through music.
Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist
Christine Flink
These parishioners are baptized and confirmed Catholic lay people commissioned to assist the clergy in distributing the Eucharist when there are an insufficient number of priests and deacons. They ensure reverent, orderly communion, especially in our larger community.
Lay Presiders
Deacon Al Hallett
These parishioners are trained, authorized laypeople who lead specific non-eucharistic liturgies and communal prayers, particularly in the absence of a priest or deacon.
Lectors
Jane Parker
Lectors (or readers) in the Church are parishioners who proclaim the Word of God during Mass, specifically the first and second readings, and sometimes the Responsorial Psalm and Prayers of the Faithful. They play a vital role in making the Scriptures audible, clear, and engaging, helping the congregation encounter Christ, who is present in His word.
Ushers
Leo Holland & Tim Gregory
Often called Ministers of Hospitality, these parishioners serve a vital liturgical and pastoral role by welcoming parishioners and visitors, assisting with seating, managing the collection and guiding Communion lines. They ensure a reverent environment, respond to and manage emergencies and ensure all feel welcome in our family.
Parish Community Life
Building community in the parish involves a willingness to share gifts and talents with others and being open to receiving the gifts and talents that others have to offer. This mutual sharing of gifts helps to create a vibrant and dynamic parish community where everyone feels valued and appreciated along with a sense of family and true belonging. Ladies by the Sea
Patty Pelkey
The participants in this ministry gather weekly for fun and fellowship. They share craft ideas and create items used for other ministries in the Church. They create prayer shawls for those who need comfort and solace and support a multitude of other ministries throughout the Church with their talents or monetary donations.
Funeral Reception Ministry
Ginger Candelora
Parishioners in the ministry support the grieving family by providing various foods for a luncheon following a funeral Mass or Communion Service. They serve attendees and sit with family members and friends of the deceased, providing comfort and conversation in their time of grief.
Hispanic Ministry
Wendy Flores
The Hispanic ministry works to provide trained liturgical participants to celebrate the Spanish/Bilingual Mass at both Holy Redeemer and Holy Trinity Churches. The group also coordinates the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe each December planning Mass, food, and fun gathering with the entire community. They provide catechists to assist with the RICA program, provide baptism preparation for parents and godparents and help organize retreats with The School of Evangelization of St. Andrew.
Hospitality
Michelle Lenz
This ministry brings fellowship opportunities to parishioners through Coffee and Donuts, Wine and Cheese, and Cookies and Conversations events. They also serve a pivotal role in various celebrations within the Church throughout the year.
Peace Garden
Kerri Engley
This outdoor sanctuary is maintained by the students in our youth Faith Formation program and is designed to foster prayer, healing, contemplation, and reconciliation with God and creation.
Respect Life
Janine Benizio
This ministry is dedicated to upholding the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. The members organize prayer vigils, participate in educational outreach, support local pregnancy centers and promote Respect Life Sunday in October.
Safety and Security
Jim Wessel
This new ministry aims to find ways to keep our parishioners safe while they are on Church property. They are tasked with developing protocols to protect parishioners, staff, and property. Their key responsibilities include risk assessment, emergency planning, team training, establishing clear communication methods during emergency situations, and access control.
St. Joseph Guild
Paul Bredell
Modeled after St. Joseph’s life as a carpenter, members work to maintain the building and grounds providing painting, carpentry or general repairs.
Widows/Widowers Group
Sheila Chieco
This group meets monthly at a local restaurant to provide support and friendship. This is a great way to share a meal and have a good time getting to know other parishioners.
Young Adult Ministry
Andrew Archibald
This new ministry of young adults in their 20’s and 30’s are seeking to grow in faith and fellowship while placing Jesus Christ at the center of their busy lives. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month for fellowship, prayer, and discussion about parish and young-adult needs. They sponsor activities for engagement with all parishioners.
Youth Activities
Larry Nicholson
The adults who participate in this ministry aim to inspire children to get involved in our community, giving them direction to serve others and be good stewards for the benefit of our environment. The activities we present help our youth apply their faith to community and those living within it.
