OCIA & RICA
Are you thinking about joining the Catholic Church? Would you like to begin the journey of becoming a member? Do you want to explore the Catholic faith in a deeper way? If so, you are invited to join the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or the OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) or Rite of Initiation of Christian Adults (RICA) for Spanish.
The OCIA and RICA are not just a “sign-up” to become Catholic; it is a no pressure opportunity to pursue truth and the meaning of life, to seek answers to eternal questions, and to learn about the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church.
OCIA and RICA are processes designed to orient your heart toward God and help you discover the Catholic faith. They offer a chance to learn the basics of what it means to be Catholic, ask questions, and find ways to open your life to Jesus. Through these processes, you will prepare to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Along the way, you will identify your spiritual longings with those of Catholic Christians who have been following Jesus for the past 2,000 years.
You are not alone on this journey; you will be in the company of others who are also seeking truth and a deeper relationship with Jesus. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Deacon Mark Mueller for OCIA at mmuel18747@aol.com or (757) 746-4782 or Fr. Giovanny Munoz for RICA at hrbtskittyhawk@gmail.com or (252) 261-4700.
Jesus said: "Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: 'Rivers of living water will flow from within him.’
(John 7:37-38)
